We are sad to report the passing of one of the best dj's out there, DJ AM. Not only was he an extraordinarily gifted DJ but he was also a very notable sneaker lover and collector. Its very sad news. Its crazy how he escaped with his life from that plane crash that happened almost a year ago, and now this. He was found in his New York City apartment with prescription drug bottles but the details of his death are still unconfirmed at this moment. It was rumored he was working on a collaborative sneaker with Nike. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family, friends and fans all over the world. Rest in Peace.
As promised when we showed you the previews newest Nike SB Team Rider, Eric Koston's first sneaker in the form of a Dunk Low, today we bring you the first glimpse of Pro rider Omar Salazar's first sneaker with the company. If you know Omar's style then you can see this as a perfect sneaker for him. Whenever I watch Omar skate, I can't help but think he has a style that screams Vans. He reminds me so much of Tony Trujillio with his speed and transition skills, and Tony is the perfect face for Vans. Omar's shoe also reminds me heavily of Vans. This shoe has the body of a Half-Cab but with a few more updates. This shoe surprisingly does not have a vulcanized sole. I am used to seein Omar skate the Blazer High's so I thought for sure he would be rocking a vulcanized sole for these bad boys. This shoe also has a pretty big and padded tongue, so this shoe is sure to be quite comfortable. I am always a fan of the minor touches and details that you find on sneakers, and I love that "Salazar" is written across the tongue of the shoe...much in the way you would see "Jordan." It is about time this guy got his own sneaker, he has been ripping hard for Nike for a while now and I am super stoked for him. Look out for these to be released in March 2010. For now you can check out the shoe Omar has been known to skate in below through the following auctions on eBay, the Nike SB Blazer High.
I hope all of you out there are as excited about this release of this sneaker as I am. It will hit harder for all the skate fans out there more so than the average sneaker collector because this is Eric Koston's signature shoe we are talking about here...probably one of the greatest skaters of all time, if not the greatest...in my book he is without a doubt the most stylish, consistent, funny and humble skaters I have ever seen...the guy is seriously a living legend. Anyways, enough about Eric, lets talk about the shoes. As soon as I heard he had left Lakai for Nike, I knew they would have something sick in store for his first signature shoe from their line and this is one of the first previews of his shoe that we have been able to see. I found this photo over on sneaker news and I am stoked. Nike revealed this shoe, along with many others including Omar Salazar's first shoe at the 2009 Skatepark of Tampa Showcase. According to them, this is still just speculated to be Koston's shoe, but I think it goes along with him and his personality pretty well. It is one of the best colorways for the Dunk I have ever seen. Koston is doing it right with the suede panels and the gold swoosh really sets these shoes off. Check back tomorrow for an update on Omar Salazar's shoe, that is going to be a real sick shoe...that is all i will say for now. Check out the following Eric Koston Nike SB Dunk Lows for sale through the following eBay auctions.
